Road Trip!

Our Friday evening started off at Spanky’s!

This is under our table! She loved it!

Then my brother came up from Florida for the weekend nd on Saturday we headed to the Five Points area of Jacksonville.

Road trip! Oh yeah got me some new shades and I am supa happy! I don’t have to wear those hideous white ones anymore!!!!

We walked around and did a lot of window shopping and looked through some really cool stores like the one that had these…

 (Really?? It won’t rotate!??? Grrr!)

We visited The Grassroots Natural Market and I got some goodies!!! They have a nice selection of Gluten Free items.

I am such a dork that I can’t even turn the bottle of Kombucha the right way! Picture Fail!

We also came home with this bad boy and some of his friends…

I evidently need a new camera. My pics suck! This was Green’s Dubbel Dark Ale and it was the bomb diggitty! It reminds me of a Sam Adamsish kinda beer. And yes that is a technical term!

We also tried Bard’s which was pretty decent and Estrella Damm Daura which tasted just like malt liquour. I am not really into the drinking a 40 of Old E thing anymore so I don’t think I wll be drinking that very often but ya never know, maybe I will decided to pour some out for my homies.

Such a fun weekend with the family! Now after saving 100 bucks and some change at the grocery store (jumping on that extreme coupon bandwagon!) we are going to eat and early Sunday dinner and watch a movie!

Hope you had an awesome weekend!!!

I Get To….

I had a principal explain to me something she does in her faculty meetings and that the teachers do with their students.

She has “I Get To… ” cards that she hands out for people to fill out. So instead of complaining about something, you give it a positive spin.

For example, I hate doing dishes. Instead of complaining about doing dishes I could fill out a card to say, “I Get To do dishes, with clean, safe, running water!”

Some of you may not get as excited about this as I do but I am an optimist and I love giving things a positive spin so I love it!

My Five I Get To’s:

I get to clean my own safe home.

I get to do my laundry, in a washing machine.

I get to go to work in a job I love.

I get to go out in the heat, near the beach with palm tree! :-)

I get to listen to my kids whine, because I have children who are able to whine!

Happy Friday and what are your 5 I Get To’s?

What’s that sound?

Oh that’s the sound of my over baking and my printer printing!

I am baking some pumpkin bread per child request and I am using the NuNatural MoreFiber Baking Blend (shh, don’t tell them!) and the NuNaturals Vanilla Stevia that I won off Monica‘s blog awhile back.  (FYI the Baking Blend is NOT Gluten Free but I thought I would use it for everyone else to try so I could give m opinion.  I do plan to make some stuff with just the Vanilla becuase it is Alcohol and thus also Gluten Free.)

I have also fallen victim to the Coupon Craze!!! I wouldn’t consider myself an extreme couponer just a novice!

I saved about $56 on my last trip which was quite a bit more than I normally would.  So now I am addicted to seeing how good I can get without it consuming my every waking moment.  A threshold that I often try to cross with any new interest or hobby!

I am not however going to spend the rest of my evening printing…

I don’t think…

:-)

To sick and back in less than 36 hours!!!!!

So I got up and went for a run yesterday morning.  I knew after a week off there was no way I was going to be able to add any mileage for a long run so I decided to attempt some speed work.

So instead of planning it out like a normal (well prepared) runner would do I decided to wing it.

Do I know how fast I went during each interval? NO

Do I know how far each interval was? NO

Do I know if it was helpful at all? NO

But I do know that I would run my normal speed, kick it up a notch and then kick it up a notch again then I would walk a little.

Then about two hours after I ran and showered I started feeling really sore.

Uh-OH! What have I done???

Then it got worse while I was grocery shopping and I started getting a headache. So I decided to drink some gatorade and snack because doesn’t food cure everything????

Then when Gabbie said she was hot I knew something was wrong….I WAS SICK!!!!

I took my temp and sure enough it was 101!

I didn’t take being tired and sore as signs of being sick! What is wrong with me?

So I took some tylenol and layed around the rest of the day, my temp got higher and my sleep was not the greatest. I got up and knew I still wasn’t feeling the best but I took some meds and headed to work.

I am so glad I decided to suck it up and go because by the afternoon I felt fine. I guess those germy kids gave me a 24 hour bug of some sort!

Off to figure out what to make for dinner becuase once again, I have no plan!

4 days left of the work week Peeps!!!

Emotions

It’s been such a fun week.

It was at times very emotional!

It ended with some surprises

I was so excited I got some goodies in the mail!!! (Review to come!)

Headed to Savannah today! Should be so much fun!!!!

Tomorrow starts a new week and time to get back into training! I guess I am going to get up super early and run in the dark….scary!

Where is my Child?

It’s amazing how tired I am.

I got up at 5 today in order to get me and my youngest ready and at the bus stop by 6:55.  I don’t think I will need all that time once we get into a routine but today we needed it!

I was able to leave work at 2 today so I could meet her bus this afternoon.  She didn’t know when she needed to get off the bus so when the bus doors opened she didn’t budge.  All the other kids got off and the bus driver, whom I already LOVE, said ok are all the kids off for this stop? Uh no! Marleigh did not budge.  So I got on the bus, and did not see her!!!

My heart was in my throat and I was on the verge of tears (I already cried when she got on the bus!) So I yelled Marleigh is you are on here stand up! So she did!  She is so small you can’t even see here because the seats are so high!!!

The bus driver said, “Oh my gosh I got so scared!” Lady you have no idea! She had a great first day and we came home and had apples and peanut butter and I chilling in the A/C waiting on big sister to ride her bike home from Middle School!

I have decided that I am not going to worry about having missed my workouts this week. It’s been stressful, hectic and very emotional.  I am tired and once we get into our routing I will find the time and energy and it won’t be a big deal!

Yes, I am giving myself and excuse and I am okay with that!

Anyone else have their kids back in school or are back to working in the schools yet?

I heart Thursdays!!!!

Techni-Dumb and Gluten Free yummies!

I had a great first day of work!

I also got to eat at a restaurant that I haven’t been to because I am poor and eat at home a lot!

It is called Spanky’s.  It’s a Seafood/American place.  There are two here in Glynn County and I had the Chicken Fajita Salad, no dressing, no crackers or anything else containing Gluten!

Everyone there was super nice when I explained that I couldn’t have gluten and discussed how they prevent any cross contamination!

I was impressed and love the salad.

Unfortunately I didn’t want to freak out my new colleague by photographing my food but trust me, it was yummy!

Evidently there are multiple Spanky’s and you can find info about the restaurant on urbanspoon.com http://urbns.pn/dekB (sorry I don’t know how to do hyperlinks cause I am Techni-Dumb)

Anyhoo, I know they have them in Savannah and a few other places so check it out!

I did have a great day and I hope the girls have a great first day at school tomorrow! Mommy will try not to cry when the bus leaves with my baby but I am  not making any promises!

I also want to note that I had Nathan’s Famous Beef Smoked Sausage last night and it was delicously Gluten Free.  A rep from Nathan’s Famous said that all of their products are now Gluten Free! Awesome!

Happy Humpday!

We are all big girls around here!

So I decided I was too tired to keep thinking about that stupid bill and went about my day pretending it didn’t exist! (Healthy, right?)

My baby, Marleigh is going to Kindergarten this year! It’s sad but I’m ready, she’s ready and we all think it’s gonna be great!

We went to her open house!

I have no idea what’s going on with my hair! But she was so excited! She wanted differently posed pictures.

 Scared

 Scary

 Goofy

 Super Happy and Excited!

It was fun and I am looking forward to a great school year!

I am off to my big girl job! I am probably just as excited as the girls to be starting school this year!

And maybe the house cleaning fairy will come while I am gone and I will return this afternoon with a magically clean house!

;-)

How much???

Have you ever had so many frustrating things happen at once that you feel like the next person to tick you off may get hit?

No? Just me and my redheaded temper, lack of sleep and possible hormonal imbalance maybe? Ok then.

I got my electric bill in the mail… Amount Due $548.43!!!!!

Ummm yeah. So I know that the realtor who manages this property along with the landlord know there is something wrong with the A/C because they are replacing it once it cools this fall so if they think I’m not taking some of that off the rent they have lost their minds!  I haven’t talked to them yet so I don’t know how they are going to react all I know is that I shouldn’t call today. I am too angry!

Then I call to get my daughter into a doctor for a sports physical and I kid you not every pediatricians office in my county said they couldn’t get her in until September! Okay so now I have officially decided to find a doctor elsehwere because what happens when you have a sick child? This seems ridiculous to me!

So I had to take her to an Immediate Care facility who quoted me two different prices with one quote being a range that could double the price. Umm it’s a sports physical how can it cost different amounts? Needless to say it ended up being the first quote and it was fine but come on you can’t tell me there is a difference in physicals that take 10 minutes!!!

It’s been a long day and it isn’t even noon!!!

I did not go run today. I’m not sure if the swamp fire is going again or what but it seems smokey outside again and its hot and humid. Not to mention I had a major case of insomnia last night. (I just checked and yes the fire is still burning!)

I AM A HOT MESS!

I just want to eat bready carbs and nap but that would be bad since I go to work tomorrow!

I hope your Tuesday is going better than mine!

Buses at dawn!

We headed to middle school open house earlier. Whew that is madness!!! But Gabbie was able to meet all of her teachers.

Marleigh managed to shake hands with most of them as well!

Since I have been counting calories, I think I am eating less as to not have real evidence of my overeating.

Whatever works!

Gabbie and I also went for a bike ride earlier to see which was the fastest way for her to ride her bike to school. So we went back and forth like 3 times!  She also wanted to know how long it will take her to get there! What can I say she is slightly OCD like her mother!!!

It gave me an excuse to get a 3 mile bike ride in so that’s ok!

Also, we found out that Marleigh has to be at the bus stop at 6:55 in the morning! Isn’t that super early???  I mean let’s think about what time I have to get up to get ready in order to turn around and get her up and ready??? I’m not sure because in Indiana I had to take Gabbie to school because she went out of district.

I’m worried!!!

So if you have kids or remember your own school days, what time is normal for bus pickup?
